David Robinson

David Robinson has served as a Family Court Judge, District Court Judge and Associate Judge of the High Court. Following his retirement he was the Honorary Consul for Israel in Auckland from 2010 until 2020. Together with the late Roger Moses he established and developed a web site known as Jewish Lives. Jewish Lives contains information concerning Jewish Life in NZ and the contribution made by Jewish New Zealanders to the community. He together with Dame Lesley Max, David Shieff and Spencer Noonan are the present trustees of the Jewish Museum of New Zealand Charitable Trust which runs the Jewish Lives website. David is a long time member of the Auckland Hebrew Congregation, Auckland Chevra Kadisha and Benevolent Society and the New Zealand Zionist Society. He has served on the Board of the Auckland Hebrew Congregation, the Auckland Chevra Kadisha and Benevolent Society and its trust board. He is ably supported by his wife Yvonne. They have two sons and six grandchildren.

Jewish Lives Update: Website, Archives, Heritage Walks, Objectives
This session will provide an update on Jewish Lives purpose and activities, We will trace the development of The Jewish Heritage walk in Auckland, progress in digitising and management of the AHC and Chevra Jewish Archives as a community asset, and our plans for the future. The presenters will outline how Jewish Lives, by telling positive stories of the contribution of members of the Jewish Community, is pushing back on antisemitic attitudes fuelled by ignorance. The presenters will be seeking assistance from those attending the session to continue the work of Jewish Lives, our heritage walk, the archive project and our efforts to help in the fight against rising antisemitism.
