Dane Giraud

NEW ZEALAND

Dane Giraud is a New Zealand-based writer, filmmaker, and free speech advocate. He serves as a Council Member of the Free Speech Union, where he actively defends open dialogue across political and cultural divides. Giraud co-produced the documentary Last Words, which explores global free speech issues and features Danish activist Jacob Mchangama. As a member of the Jewish community, he has consistently championed the rights of all groups to express their views, even when contentious, emphasising that free speech must be universal to be meaningful. Giraud is also known for creating the television series Find Me a Māori Bride and the hit virtual reality game Wanderer VR and contributes regularly to public discourse on civil liberties and democratic values.
